Hair Color Correction: How to Fix Color Gone Wrong

It’s been an interesting year, especially for hair. Quarantine cuts, at-home coloring kits, our stylists have seen it all. When hair color goes wrong, what’s the best way to make it right?

In a hair color correction process, toners and purple shampoos are used to neutralize or change the hair color. Usually, it is done to lighten a dark shade or vice versa. In some cases, it is used to remove the brassiness from blonde hair color.

There is a science to it so we would not recommend trying to correct your color yourself. For example, if your hair has a green hint, most salon experts would select a warm based color or toner to add to the red tones which will counter-act and eliminate green tones.

Bottom line: Don’t settle for the wrong color. A quality consultation is vital to ensuring you get the look you want and our stylists at Mia Bella Salon consult with hundreds of clients regularly and have years of hair color and quality experience.
